Once upon a time in a village, there lived a happy family. The family consisted of a father, a stepmother, and two children named Bawang Putih and Bawang Merah. Bawang Putih's father was a merchant who often went on long trips to other countries. During his absence, Bawang Putih was left in the care of her stepmother and stepsister, who treated her very badly. They would scold her and make her do all the house chores. Tragedy struck when Bawang Putih's father passed away. From that day on, Bawang Putih had to live with her stepmother and stepsister. The mistreatment she received from them only worsened with each passing day. One morning, Bawang Putih was washing clothes by the river when one of the garments drifted away. Determined to retrieve it, she followed the river banks until she stumbled upon a grandmother's house. The grandmother found the lost garment and promised to return it to Bawang Putih if she helped clean her house. Bawang Putih gladly accepted the offer and diligently cleaned the house. As a reward, the grandmother returned the lost garment to her. To show her gratitude, the grandmother offered Bawang Putih a present. She asked whether Bawang Putih wanted a large or small pumpkin. Bawang Putih chose the small pumpkin and brought it home. This legend teaches us the importance of kindness and the rewards that can come to those who remain good-hearted despite facing mistreatment. Bawang Putih's unwavering kindness and determination led her to find happiness and escape the clutches of her cruel stepmother and stepsister. It serves as a reminder that good deeds are always rewarded in the end.
