Once upon a time, in a village near the forest, there lived an old man named Ki Banjar. He was known for his set of gamelan, which he played every night before going to sleep. The melodious sound of the gamelan brought joy to everyone in the village. One night, a man from a neighboring village came to meet Ki Banjar. He wanted to borrow the gamelan for his daughter's wedding day. Ki Banjar, with pleasure, lent the set of gamelan to the man, reminding him to take care of it and return it after the wedding. The man brought Ki Banjar's gamelan to his daughter's wedding party, where it was played all day long. The melodious voice of the gamelan could be heard throughout Ki Banjar's village, bringing happiness to everyone. However, a week passed by and the man did not return the gamelan. Ki Banjar patiently waited, but after a month, he became mad. He shouted angrily, cursing the village where the man lived. He asked God to punish the village by bringing heavy rain every time they wanted to celebrate a wedding day. In his anger, Ki Banjar kicked a rooster that was scratching the soil near him. The rooster flew miles away to a place that is now known as Cikotok, which means chicken. The cursed village, where heavy rain always occurs during wedding celebrations, was named Cimonggor. And so, the legend of Ki Banjar and the cursed village lives on, reminding us of the consequences of not keeping our promises and the power of our words.
