The COVID-19 pandemic has had a profound impact on various aspects of society, including the field of social science research. This study aims to explore the transformative efforts that have emerged in response to the pandemic, specifically focusing on the changes in methodologies and practices in social science research. To conduct this research, a thorough review of existing literature on the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on research methods and practices in social sciences was conducted. Additionally, primary data was collected through the development of a digital questionnaire, which was distributed to social science researchers. The questionnaire aimed to gather information on the changes they have made in their research methods, the reasons behind these changes, and their perceptions of the effectiveness of these adaptations. Furthermore, telephonic interviews and focused group discussions were conducted with a selected group of social scientists who have experienced significant changes in their research due to COVID-19. These interviews and discussions aimed to explore their experiences, challenges, and innovative solutions they have employed in adapting their research methodologies. In addition to primary data, secondary data was also generated from various online and offline platforms to provide a comprehensive understanding of the impact of COVID-19 on social science research. A total of 50 social science researchers were surveyed and interviewed, providing valuable insights into the changes and challenges faced by researchers in the field. The results of this study will be helpful to researchers, society, government, and policymakers in understanding the specific issues and concerns related to social science research during the COVID-19 pandemic. The main findings of this study will be summarized, highlighting the key ways in which the landscape of social science research has been reshaped by the COVID-19 pandemic. The implications of these findings for the field of social science research will also be discussed, providing valuable insights for future research and practice. In conclusion, this comprehensive study aims to shed light on the transformative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on social science research. By exploring the changes in methodologies and practices, as well as the challenges and innovative solutions employed by researchers, this study contributes to a deeper understanding of the evolving landscape of social science research in the face of unprecedented global challenges.
