Tentang Simple Past Tense
Simple Past Tense adalah tense yang dipakai untuk menyatakan peristiwa atau aktivitas yang terjadi di masa lampau dan sudah berakhir di masa lampau.
Format Simple Past Tense
Simple Past Tense dibentuk dengan format berikut 
Subject + Verb 2 + O
Simple Past Tense menggunakan kata kerja Verb kedua. Verb kedua ini ada dua jenis, yaitu regular dan irregular verb.
Untuk membentuk regular verb maka kita tambahkan di belakang kata kerja -ed atau -d. Contoh :
Complete - completed
Watch - watched
Record - recorded
Sedangkan Irregular Verb bentuknya berbeda dengan regular dan tidak beraturan.Contoh :
Drink - drank
Run - ran
Awake - awoke
Untuk mengetahui yang mana regular dan irregular maka kita harus rajin membuka kamus Bahasa Inggris. 
Bentuk positif Simple Past Tense 
Contoh :
I went to Bandung yesterday ( Saya telah pergi ke Bandung kemarin )
She completed the job last week ( Dia sudah menyelesaikan pekerjaan itu minggu lalu )
We studied together last week ( Kami belajar bersama minggu lalu )
Untuk verb to be menggunakan was untuk I, He, She, It. Dan were untuk you, we, they.
Contoh :
I was here last night. ( Saya ada disini semalam )
We were there last week ( Kami ada disana minggu kemarin ) 
Bentuk Negative Simple Past Tense
Format : Subject + did not + Verb 1
Untuk To be : Subject + was/were not 
Contoh :
I did not go to Bandung yesterday ( Saya tidak pergi ke Bandung kemarin )
She did not complete the job last week ( Dia tidak menyelesaikan pekerjaan itu minggu lalu )
We did not study together last week  ( Kami tidak belajar bersama minggu lalu )
 He was not the player yesterday.
We were not together last month. 
Bentuk Simple Past Tense Interrogative 
Format : did + subject + Verb 1 
Untuk To be : Was/were + subject 
Contoh :
Did you go to Bandung yesterday? ( Apakah kamu pergi ke Bandung kemarin? )
Did she complete the job last week? ( Apakah dia sudah menyelesaikan pekerjaan itu minggu lalu? )
Did we study together last week ( Apakah kami belajar bersama minggu lalu? )
Was he here with you yesterday?
Were you happy last night?

B menjawab dalam bentuk past tense kaena mengabarkan peristiwa yang sudah lalu, maka memakai to be ( was )

Maka jawabannya :

B : it was on the table a moment ago
